Twitter, a possible use?

Well after my last post slating Twitter users and Twitter in general for being pointless, I think I may have a genuine use for it.

I had a problem with an application I had setup on a friend’s site, and needed help from the application designer. Now I had tried filling out the feedback form, I tried posting on the support forums I even tried the IRC channel. I eventually found his twitter name, and instead sent him a wee message. The message was responded too within the hour!

Given the mobile nature of twitter, it’s almost as accessible as sending and receiving a text message. Given it now seems to be trendier than, well whatever the hell is trendy and fashionable these days it’s absolutely the best way to get a hold of any trend whore friend while they sit feverishly awaiting that next “tweet” fix. Of course as the sheen wears off, more and more people will no doubt jump to the next big thing, but for just now; and it’ pains me to say this, I think I’m going to have to start using the Twitter account again. I feel dirty……….
